Tour Plan
Morning flight from Addis Ababa to Lalibela. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. After lunch, explore the northern church cluster including Bete Golgotha-Mika’el, Bete Maryam, Bete Meskel, Bete Denagel, Bete Medhane Alem, and the iconic cross-shaped Bete Giyorgis.
Overnight: Hotel in Lalibela (B&B)
After breakfast, drive to Na’akuto La’ab Monastery, founded by King Lalibela’s successor. Inside the cave church, see sacred treasures including royal crowns, gold-painted drums, ornate processional crosses, and a beautifully illuminated ancient Bible. Holy water naturally drips from the cave ceiling into stone basins, adding to the site’s spiritual significance.
Continue to Asheton Maryam Church, one of Lalibela’s highest-altitude churches. The resident priest will present ancient crosses and a richly illustrated Bible showcasing centuries-old Ethiopian Christian art and tradition.
Overnight: Hotel in Lalibela (Bed & Breakfast)
After breakfast, explore the remaining southeastern group of Lalibela’s rock-hewn churches. Visit Bete Gabriel-Rufael, Bete Marqorios, Bete Emmanuel, and Bete Abba Libanos. These churches display distinctive Aksumite architectural features and finely carved decorative details unique to Lalibela.
After completing your visits, transfer to Lalibela Airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa, marking the end of an unforgettable spiritual and cultural journey.
